Aegon International Eastbourne Corporate Hospitality – An Event Not to be Missed!

Yasmin Dyson explains the history behind the Aegon International Eastbourne tennis tournament and how businesses and individuals can enjoy a slice of the action with PRG's corporate hospitality packages.

The Aegon International Eastbourne is one of the biggest events in Eastbourne and is held at the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club; it’s Eastbourne’s oldest park and has hosted Lawn Tennis since the 1870s. Over the years it has been used as a site for a number of Davis Cup ties, a local tennis centre and has been a venue for the Aegon International event since 1974.

With 13 courts and only a few minutes away from the town centre and seafront it’s the ideal summer setting that brings in many tourists from all over the world. Not only does it bring tourists into Eastbourne but it’s a brilliant source of revenue for local businesses, from the shops and cafés to the hotels and gyms. For example, City Gym in South Street lends some of their equipment every year to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) for the players to use which is great publicity – you can also spot the players working out regularly in City Gym, dining at the local restaurants and taking leisurely strolls down the seafront, which they love to do to take a break from their hectic schedule.

It started as a women’s only event, but then in 2009 the LTA decided to merge the women’s tournament in Eastbourne with the men’s tournament, which previously took place during the same week in Nottingham. After six years, this year the LTA decided to revert the Aegon International Eastbourne back to a women’s only tournament – a decision which could have backfired but in fact was welcomed by the players and visitors alike. There is something about the women’s only tournament that makes it more special, and stand apart from other tennis events – quite possibly the fantastic location by Eastbourne’s seafront, and the fact that it’s a family-friendly event.

Eastbourne has seen some massive names in the courts from Lindsay Davenport to The Williams sisters and Caroline Wozniacki, most of whom have gone on to become champions of Wimbledon. The Aegon International Eastbourne always takes place on the second to last week in June, the week before Wimbledon, so it is known as the ‘warm-up for Wimbledon’ for the players that compete.

Along with great tennis courts, bars and food stalls there are also great corporate hospitality packages at the Aegon International Eastbourne, which PRG has been selling since 2010. The Sky Lounge offers the perfect venue for the corporate hospitality and a premium viewing platform, overlooking Centre Court and Court 1.

The Sky Lounge corporate hospitality package includes the following:

  • Private table (2-10 people)
  • Light Breakfast Offering
  • Premium Centre Court tickets
  • Champagne & Canapé reception
  • Waitress served 3 course lunch – à la carte
  • Afternoon tea
  • Inclusive bar
  • Car parking (upon request)
  • It offers a wonderful opportunity for businesses to entertain potential and existing clients or even work colleagues as a company get together. The hospitality package is very popular and we find a lot of businesses book year after year, so we always recommend that new businesses place an enquiry as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

In 2015, we introduced a more relaxed style of hospitality at the Aegon International Eastbourne on the Monday. Also held in The Sky Lounge this package includes:

  • Informal seating
  • Premium Centre Court tickets
  • 2 course buffet (self service)
  • Inclusive bar
  • Afternoon tea
  • Car parking (upon request)

This package is brilliant as a treat for a loved one, family member, friends or even for companies that prefer a more relaxed vibe.
