Profile: Phil oversees the team of account managers at PRG who deliver PR and marketing communications services. He provides strategic and creative direction to client campaigns, compiles new business pitches and manages some day-to-day client activities.

Phil’s career led him to full-service marketing communications 16 years ago, via journalism and then PR.

Phil ran his own, successful PR and marketing communications agency for seven years, clients including blue-chip brands such as Her Majesty’s Stationery Office, Vauxhall Motors and Total Oil, as well as numerous medium-size enterprises.

Highlights of Phil’s years as a journalist included driving Alain Prost’s Formula 1 car, flying a Pitts Special aerobatics plane, scooping a story with movie legend Paul Newman minutes after he said “I don’t give interviews,” ghost-writing a newspaper column for world champion racing driver James Hunt, living and working for two years in California, winning a national writers’ award in the USA, surviving an emergency landing in a helicopter, and crashing spectacularly out of a 12-hour lawnmower race.

Outside work, Phil’s interests are aviation (he spent many years piloting fixed-wing gliders before progressing to single-engine aircraft), international travel, watching movies, following F1 and MotoGP racing, reading and writing.
