New e-commerce website hits the high street
PRG’s latest e-commerce site has hit the virtual high street. The Sporting Store website, www.thesportingstore.co.uk, boasts powerful payment encryption, an integrated Paypal facility and increased functionality.
Although successful on eBay, The Sporting Store website generated few orders. The clay and field shooting specialists hired PRG to find out why.
PRG suggested an overhaul of the design making the site more visually appealing, introduced clear calls to action, and created a colour scheme that complimented the country purists the site catered for. PRG also redesigned the company’s logo.
To improve the site’s ranking in the search engines, PRG implemented SEO techniques into the copy. PRG also introduced a one-stop checkout facility to streamline transactions, making it easier and quicker for customers to make a purchase.
Customers can also recommend products to their friends via the ‘send to a friend’ function and can join Facebook and Twitter to receive special promotions and discounts.
Integrated into the site is an alert system linked to stock numbers, telling The Sporting Store if an item is running low. If a product is out of stock, customers will be unable to purchase the item.
In addition, PRG hosts the site and is able to create unique offer codes and promotions to use through social media or on the web.
Last year, 63% of adults in the UK bought or ordered goods or services online.
The most popular products bought were clothes and sporting goods.
A poorly designed site can potentially cut you off
from additional
revenue.
