Smith & Ouzman provides commercial and security printing,
often working for clients who need to protect themselves against
forgery and counterfeiting. Foreign governments, for example, buy
the company’s tamper-proof ballot papers.
Search engine optimisation
This means Smith & Ouzman’s potential customers are
based all over the world, and one way of reaching them is via the
Internet. With this in mind, PRG produced a new website for Smith & Ouzman,
engineering the site to achieve search engine optimisation.
Within a week of the new site going live, it brought an enquiry
from the Mauritania Electoral Commission in northwest Africa, who
made a Google search for “ballot papers.” In the next
five days, Smith & Ouzman submitted a proposal to the Commission,
visited Mauritania for a meeting, and signed a £450,000 contract.
Smith & Ouzman’s sales director, Nick Smith, said: “I
think that’s possibly the fastest rate of return on an investment
we’ve ever made. Would our old website have given them our
name? Probably not. So well worth the £5,000 spent!”
