From Ground Force to nurse force - Tommy Walsh opens new nursing home extension
Ground Force favourite Tommy Walsh joined PRG and client Canford Healthcare Plc for the official opening of Barty House Nursing Home’s new extension in Maidstone, Kent, this week. PRG was asked by Canford Healthcare to organise an event to inform local media of the improvements made to Barty House Nursing Home and called upon Tommy and the Mayor of Maidstone Peter Parvin to support the event.
To encourage local media to attend the press event, PRG recommended gaining the support of a TV personality. PRG chose Tommy Walsh, who is well known for his wit and for charming ladies of the elder generation on BBC’s garden makeover series, Ground Force.
In addition to securing the support of Tommy and the Mayor of Maidstone, PRG was responsible for the full organisation and management of the press event, which included organising a firework display; arranging a Christmas buffet; booking a string quartet; inviting local media; appointing and briefing a photographer; preparing press packs and a press release; distributing press release and photo, and follow up phone calls to the local media to encourage press coverage.
Brian Cooney, Chief Executive Officer, and Barry Lambert, Chief Operating Officer of Canford Healthcare Plc, were on hand at the press event to give journalists a background history of Barty House and a tour of the nursing home. Brian Cooney was also quoted in the news release.
Now the press event is complete, PRG will be monitoring the media coverage during the lead up to Christmas.
About Barty House Nursing Home extension
The £2m+ extension to Barty House Nursing Home offers luxury en-suite bedrooms decorated to the highest standard, with outside views of the landscaped garden or courtyard.
The new extension has doubled the capacity of the nursing home, which now supplies housing for a further 27 guests and could potentially create around 60 jobs in the area, which may help those local residents who have been affected by the economic downturn.
