Motability partner publicises 30th anniversary

Constables Mobility, the leading designer and manufacturer of wheelchair accessible vehicles, has appointed PRG to handle regional and national PR campaigns celebrating the company’s 30th anniversary. PRG won the work in a competitive pitch against two other agencies.
The national campaign will promote a prize draw open to the 2.5 million UK households with a resident or family member registered as disabled. Constables’ founder and owner, David Constables, said: “The prize, a brand new car fully converted for wheelchair access, will be worth more than £10,000 – but its greatest value will be giving a disabled person the kind of motorised mobility the rest of us take for granted.”
The winner will be presented with the wheelchair accessible
vehicle
(WAV) by actor and wheelchair user David Proud, best
known for
playing Adam Best in Eastenders (pictured here).
Regional PR, focusing on Kent and Sussex, will publicise two
stories devised by PRG for their charitable appeal: Constables’
Day
Out Competition will chauffeur 10 households with a registered
disabled person to a day out at a popular and accessible tourist
destination; Constables’ Christmas-In-A-Car will give families
of
registered disabled people the chance to win a car-boot-full
of
Christmas presents. PRG has secured coverage for these
competitions
in up to 27 newspapers.
PRG account director Phillip Bingham said: “Constables have
a rare
British manufacturing success story to tell.We won the
work by
demonstrating a creative approach to shaping stories,
an ability to
deliver in the required short timeframe, and by
preparing so well
that we could guarantee widespread media coverage.”
Constables’ factory in Golden Cross, East Sussex turns out
up to
2,500 vehicles each year. The company is a Converter Partner
in
the Motability scheme, which enables disabled people to lease
a
car (or scooter or powered wheelchair) by using their
government-funded
mobility allowances. More than 560,000
motorists on the roads
today obtained their vehicles with help
from Motability.
