It’s been an unpredictable start to the New Year for most businesses; news that Boris had finally clenched a trade deal was swiftly followed by the announcement of yet another lockdown.

But at PRG, we’re trying to remain positive and 2021 couldn’t have got off to a better start as we’ve just welcomed a new Account Manager, Tina Reed to the team.

In this blog, Tina shares her first week experience and why she’s delighted to be part of the PRG family.

Yes, I got the job! This is exactly what I’ve always wanted to do so after the professional recruitment process I was delighted to get the offer email from Simon and just before Christmas too. Ding dong merrily on high!

I adore Marketing and PR. Since I was a child, I’ve always loved advertising. I genuinely couldn’t wait for the adverts to come on the telly and still get a kick when I see a creative campaign that’s well thought out.

The Start

Day one arrived on Monday 4th January 2020. I was excited and really looking forward to getting back into a routine, meeting the team and getting stuck into a new challenge that will push me and help me to grow. I have a strong marketing background and plenty of business-to-business experience but was still nervous to be the ‘new girl’ all over again. I packed up my lunch box, selected a coffee mug to take to the office and laid out the clothes the night before just like the first day of school. Let’s do this…

It’s a strange but interesting time to join a business as the newbie but “it is what it is” as we’re all very used to saying at the moment!

A nervous but excited knock on the front door of the offices in Gildredge Road and I was met by a big smile and socially distanced stair dance by Simon – what a greeting! Come on in… but stand back!

Simon took me on a tour around the building and I was introduced to all the empty desks and told about my colleagues who usually sit at them, then met the small number of colleagues in the office that day. I was made to feel so very welcome by the whole team in a Monday morning Zoom meeting and was swiftly added to the PRG WhatsApp groups; I mean who doesn’t need to see memes and jokes at this current time?! Feeling part of the team is important though and they’ve certainly done that already.

I’m like a kid in a sweet shop here already with conversations around social media, google analytics, press releases, creative briefs, website design, SEO and much more I honestly feel right at home.

Over the next few days the introductions continued to both clients and colleagues and as the week has gone on I’ve started already to become more familiar with the working ways of PRG.

They – or should I now say we – certainly have a strong, professional and exciting brand but can maintain an air of approachability and friendliness. Not an easy thing to do, but PRG just seems to get it right.

Week one complete!

It’s Friday 8th January and as I sit at my home desk today and write this blog, I can honestly say I think I’m going to love working as part of the PRG family. I’m excited about the future and what it holds for PRG and my next career chapter.

The real buzz will come from seeing the results of the work we do come to life and fruition for our clients and helping them to achieve their goals, even in these most challenging times.

Maybe one day, I’ll even get to meet my colleagues and clients in person but until that day I’ll be happy to continue on with the Zoom calls, emails and WhatsApp gifs!
