Challenge

In October 2021, Your Eastbourne BID put up a tender for social media and PR support over the Christmas months. PRG Marketing Communications put forward a creative and competitive proposal to Your Eastbourne BID, and much to our delight on the 20th October 2021 we were awarded the tender.

Your Eastbourne BID had big plans for Christmas 2021. They were bringing a real ice rink to the town for the first time in over a decade. Not only that, but this ice rink had partnered with Winterland, a Christmas Park that featured stalls selling Christmas goodies, as well as a Santa’s grotto.

Solution

PRG held an initial planning meeting with Your Eastbourne BID to discuss all they had planned for Christmas in Eastbourne. They had secured local full fibre broadband provider Lightning Fibre as the main sponsor for the rink. The ice rink also had backing from other Eastbourne companies, one of which was Booksy UK. The tech giants sponsored the penguin helpers on the ice rink, as well as hiring the rink for a corporate session late in December.

Following the meeting, PRG got to work straight away, preparing a content plan for their social channels, which included Facebook and Instagram. Our aim was to increase the presence and engagement for Your Eastbourne BID, so our in-house photographer was always on call, ready to snap the perfect shot to share across the various channels for maximum reach.

We also organised for local stakeholders to attend Christmas events which included writing multiple press releases to ensure coverage in local newspapers.

From the first day the housing for Eastbourne’s Lightning Fibre Ice Rink arrived in November, to the last day of action on the 5th January, Your Eastbourne BID was supported by PRG.

Result

Christmas 2021 in Eastbourne was a great success. Eastbourne’s Lightning Fibre Ice Rink saw over 17,000 tickets sold, even attracting customers from outside of the Eastbourne area, as far as Tunbridge Wells and Worthing.

Their social media platforms saw great growth. With the content PRG supplied, Your Eastbourne BID’s Instagram followers doubled, with only organic posts. Their average monthly impressions sky-rocketed from 1,000 over a 1-month period to just over 13,000, with Facebook’s monthly page impressions also seeing great growth, going from 21,000 over 1 month to just over 50,000 in a month.
