Materials Handling PR – why automated handling and technological innovation is changing retail

It’s no secret that automated handling is changing the face of the logistics industry. As marketers working for clients in the logistics sector for more than 10 years, our team has seen the industry evolve and adapt.

We’ve watched with interest as the latest technologies filter down through the industry helping to streamline processes, with one of the most interesting being the current demand for robotics and automation.

Last month saw the Robotics & Automation exhibition taking place on 10th and 11th October and PRG’s long standing client Go Plastic Pallets exhibited at the event, following on from their hugely successful contract win with GA Pet Food Partners. PRG utilised its materials handling PR expertise to promote the company’s  robust plastic pool pallets and RL-KLT containers which offer – among other benefits –  100% size and strength consistency, making them ideal for use in automated handling systems.

Go Plastic Pallets has a wealth of experience dealing with clients for whom automated handling is now a crucial part of the packaging process. One such client is GA Pet Food Partners – their pallet box delivery was hugely challenging and required 19,750 of the boxes to be delivered to the client. The customer needed a large container to work efficiently within an automated handling system which was to work as part of a huge new facility.

Thanks to expert delivery from Go Plastic Pallets’ team and the materials handling PR know-how of PRG’s experts, the project gained extensive media coverage across warehouse, packaging, logistics and pet trade media.

This isn’t the first time PRG has worked with Go Plastic Pallets to promote their offering in the automated handling industry. Go Plastic Pallets’ largest pallet boxes recently appeared on TV ‘Inside the Factory’ following a 2012 project with Logoplaste. Go Plastic Pallets was selected to supply 2,000 GoPalletBox 1311 plastic containers to the firm for their client to use for a famous sports brand’s drink prior to the Olympics. The boxes were to be used with automated guided vehicles in order to ensure a swift delivery.
