Have your Facebook business page Likes dropped? Here’s why

If you own a business page on Facebook, we’ve got some news for you. Your page Likes are about to drop!

On 12th March, Facebook changed the way page Likes are counted. Any accounts that aren’t used anymore or that are duplicates will be removed. This is to give page admins more accurate insights on followers so they know how many people just simply like the page or actively follow it.

Facebook has said that the change is meant to make audience data even more meaningful for businesses and ensure that data on Facebook is consistent and up-to-date.

For example, in the last week, PRG client Bad Barnet Barbers’ Facebook page dropped a massive 30 likes because of the new change.

Although this may be alarming to Facebook business page owners in the short term, in the long run it will prove a benefit, since Facebook is just removing the people that had no input in your page, giving a more accurate reading of who’s actually interested in your business.
