PRG welcomes Digital Marketing Executive to the team

After the wettest May on record since 1967, June has got off to a great start. Not only has summer finally arrived, but at PRG we’ve welcomed another new member of staff. Last week Robbie Lees joined the team as Digital Marketing Executive.

Now in his second week, Robbie shares his first week experience and his hopes for the future.

I haven’t been in the working world that long; I finished college in June 2018 and got my first ‘proper’ job in September the same year. Most recently I worked as a Social Media Coordinator at another family-run business here in Eastbourne, so I’d like to think I know a thing or two about social media! But when I saw PRG advertising for a Digital Marketing Executive, I knew an opportunity like this would be great for my personal and professional development.

My first day at PRG fell on Monday 7th June. I was up early in the morning, coffee in hand, ready to get started. I remember walking up the stairs to the front door, ringing the bell and seeing a smiley Simon ready to introduce me to the team. After an introduction chat from Simon about the company history, some of PRG’s key clients and the company’s core service offering, he gave me a tour of the building (this place has a lot of fire extinguishers – which you’d expect with a big Fire & Security brand as one of its largest clients).

I was treated to a welcome lunch at one of the local pubs! One ice cool pint of coca-cola and a beefy bbq burger later, I was loving my first day. I went through our website editing and creation platforms with Ian, PRG’s Web Development Manager, and I did some user testing and editing on a client’s website! (Fingers crossed I haven’t broken it).

My new role is split between supporting two teams in the business: half of the week I’m based upstairs with the Web Development team, and the other half I’m downstairs with the Marketing Account Managers. Wednesday was my first day of the week with the Account Managers, I had an intro meeting with Kathryn, Tina and Amy, learning about their day-to-day tasks, where I fit into the team and finding out more information about their core clients.

I find it really exciting that I get to directly work with two divisions of the business, by being the link between both teams I’m hoping I can support both areas and bring their work together to the greatest effect possible!

Over the week, I got a taste for all the different offerings of a full-service marketing agency. I sat in on multiple zoom meetings and just absorbed everything that was going on, getting a feel for PRG and our clients. One thing I’ve already found I really enjoy about working in an agency is every day brings new challenges! One minute we are preparing a website for a construction company, the next we are talking about a social media campaign for a fast-food chain, then we are looking at SEO for a florist. Every day brings new experiences that I can add to my arsenal.

When Friday arrived – and the first week zoomed by – I found myself writing this blog, reflecting on everything I’d learnt and achieved. It’s been an action packed first week at PRG, learning about our clients and how we go about achieving the best results for them. Next week I’ll be starting to immerse myself in PRG’s marketing, which I’ll be helping steer moving forwards, a challenge I’m really looking forward to, so watch this space!
