If you have been thinking about working with a marketing agency but have never outsourced before you may be wondering what to expect. How does a marketing agency work? Can you just enlist help with a specific project? Perhaps you want to know how much it will cost

If you have been thinking about working with a marketing agency but have never outsourced before you may be wondering what to expect. How does a marketing agency work? Can you just enlist help with a specific project? Perhaps you want to know how much it will cost?

At PRG we like to be transparent with our clients and make your agency experience run as smoothly as possible. In this blog, we cover some of the most frequently asked questions about outsourcing your marketing…

What happens when I make an enquiry – do I need to know what kind of marketing I should be doing?

When you make an enquiry, our team will want to know a little background about your business. By finding out what marketing you currently do (if any) and who your customers are we can start to make recommendations. Dependent on your requirements an initial phone call or meeting may be suggested to discuss this.  We are then able to provide you with our thoughts / proposal.

How can I make the most out of working with a marketing agency?

Agencies work in different ways. At PRG, we like to take the time to get to know a client, their business objectives and priorities. You can help make the process of enlisting a marketing agency run smoothly for both parties by having a clear brief. You don’t necessarily need to know what you want to do; but an idea of what you’re trying to achieve, who your customers are and what marketing you’ve done in the past is a good place to start.

A good agency will be able to make suggestions about different channels that may work for you. They will also be honest about where your marketing budget could potentially be better spent. You can make the most out of working with an agency by being honest about the challenges and issues your business faces and what threats your competitors may bring. If you build a good relationship with an agency you should feel like they’re an extension of your business, a trusted marketing partner.

Can I enlist your help with a single project?

Yes – at PRG we work on a project or retainer basis. We find many clients prefer the latter as it gives them more flexibility should business direction change, or things crop up. We always aim to give all clients the best service regardless of how many campaigns you enlist our help with.

Will you work with our in-house marketing team?

Another yes! While many of our clients enlist PRG for full marketing support, we also have clients that utilise specific areas of our expertise. As a full-service marketing agency, we can offer a wide range of services including web design, PR, digital marketing and graphic design. Whether you choose to use just one of our services and have your in-house marketing team do the rest or you want a larger package of support we can be flexible. We’re also happy to provide support on a consultancy basis if required.

What will get me the best marketing results?

This is dependent on your objectives, industry and audience. No one approach fits all. A good agency will be happy to work on a strategy that fits your brief and is tailored to your business. Agencies should also be flexible – sometimes you may need to change tack which is understandable.

Will you report back to me?

Yes, of course! We understand that outsourcing your marketing is a big decision, so accountability is extremely important. We provide regular reporting for all our retainer fee clients, depending on the type of support we’re offering this might include a combination of website analytics reporting, social media reporting and media coverage analysis.
