Challenge
PRG was brought on board six weeks before St Wilfrid’s Hospice‘s Big Art Secret auction specifically to generate national PR, highlighting art contributions from acclaimed artists Tracey Emin and David Hockney, as well as less known artists such as David Cameron, Greg Rusedski and Ronnie Corbett. In addition, numerous donations from the public and hospice residents were included generating more than 600 pieces of art for the auction.
Solution
We worked with St Wilfrid’s Hospice to write and dispatch press releases, manage media communications and coordinate event support. Our approach was successful and the event achieved coverage in a wide selection of local and national press, including:
- The Guardian
- Meridian Television
- BBC South East Today
- The Huffington Post
- Belfast Telegraph
- Herald Scotland
- Red Magazine Daily
We decided to take our involvement a step further by becoming the official Big Art Secret auction sponsors culminating in an evening at the Towner Art Gallery for invited guests and last minute bids.
Result
The beauty of PR is that amazing things can be achieved whether you have a lot to spend or a relatively low budget. PR for charity falls into this category and in this instance the auction raised more than £45,000 for the hospice, attracting bids from across the globe, thanks to the publicity generated.
